I wrote this guide for people new to launch the building and tried to stay away from technical terms. Hope it helps to have an understanding of the fundamentals of shed so that you can make an informed decision about which type you need.
The most basic Foundation of strand
If your part is relatively small-8 ' x 10 ' or less-you can build it directly into the soil, while is quite flat and level. If the terrain is irregular, you can even it with a shovel. For a long shed, be sure to use treated wood.
A foundation based on dressing shed
Another great do-it-yourself option is to use a foundation based on gravel shed. This gives more work, but it is preferable if you live in an area with a lot of extreme rainfall or temperature. A foundation based on gravel shed has good drainage and is easy to level.
If your shed is 8 ' x 12, "dig out an area of at least 9 ' x 13 ' Level it and fill with gravel. Then you build what we call a pier and beam foundation, using nine 1 1 ' concrete paving stones in a grid pattern (three rows of three stones, with a stone in each corner, one in the Center and other four stones between each of the corner stones). All stones.
The next tier is your shed, constructed as follows: take three beams 4 "x 4" Treated lumber the length of his shed and placing them parallel on the ground. Use two beams to the outer edges and place the other beam midway between these two so is its radius of the Centre. Then nail 2 "X 2" lumber between joists for its cross beams, which stretches from end to end. Each cross beam will be supported in the middle and end of each.
Poured concrete foundation poured
The Foundation is poured concrete, but this is usually for larger projects or for people who want to have the work done by a contractor, which is a much more expensive option.
Important:
Once you've built your strand, is absolutely essential that is square. Here's how to check: facing your shed, take a measure of the next left-hand corner of the diagonal strand basis for now the upper-right corner of the base of the strand. Then take a measure of the near right corner diagonally to the left hand corner of the strand base now
If the two measurements are the same, your shed is square. If not, you need to make some adjustments so that each corner is at an angle of 90 degrees. When you finish building the shed, re-check is square, using the same method.
I know from first-hand experience, what happens when you don't. I built a shed a while ago and did something more basic: make sure the base strand was square. When I started the roof decking, I quickly learned that I had a problem. I had a little trouble getting the square and that is why I am stressing the importance of doing it right.
Some general tips:
Before you start building your shed foundation, please check if you need a permit. In addition, verify any restrictions, such as how close you can construct a property line or existing structure.
Plans to build a shed in an area where water not be after it rains so you'll have better drainage.
If you're going to store equipment in its shed, a riding lawnmower, you might need a ramp. Also, if you want the electric service and/or water in his shed, you need to consider before deciding on a foundation.
A good set of plans part will explain how to place and paving stones in detail level layout of the area to the gravel.
I hope this article helps you to make a more informed decision about what type of shed foundation you need.
