This year, Earth Day is on Friday, April 22. Are you ready to join? If not, maybe you are not sure you could do to. It's actually very easy to make a positive impact on the environment for themselves and for future generations, if you're organized.
Here are some quick tips for better space that you can start today so that you can go green too!
1.stop buying bottled water. Did you know that some bottled water is really bottled municipal tap water? Some people can tell the difference, anyway. Bottled water is more expensive than gasoline and 250 10000 times more than tap water. If you buy some bottles, so don't forget to recycle them or refill at home for your next trip or outing.
2.check valve. Office workers use enough water every day to fill the 17500 Olympic pools! Much of that comes from leaky faucets. Here is a statistic-a leaky faucet that fills a coffee cup in 10 minutes will lose approximately 3000 gallons of water per year! While you're at it, check your taps off too, especially since they were exposed during the winter months.
3.Use cold water. To make your clothing, try washing your clothes in cold water whenever possible. Water heating is the # 1 consumer of energy in many homes. And while you're at it, use a clothesline outdoors or even interior to dry their clothes whenever possible. I always use an easel inside to my delicate and special fabrics. You can dry them on line and then just pop them in the dryer on a low setting for a few minutes just to get rid of wrinkles and make them softer. This will keep the clothes from fading and wear so quickly, thus saving money!
4BYOB .-bring your own bag. Instead of using plastic or paper grocery bags the next time you go shopping, bring canvas bags. You can buy them cheap at most grocery stores these days. Remember, it takes a tree 15-20 years of age to make paper enough to only 700 bags! And, although plastic is convenient, they are not biodegradable. They can only be recycled many times!
5.Turn off your screen saver; unplug your tv. The EPA estimates that use a computer "sleep mode" reduces the power consumption of 60% to 70%! So, please turn off your monitor when you're not using it. At the same time, consider turning off the TV or using a row filter with a manual on/off switch. Most tvs, dvd players, gaming systems and stereo receivers use electricity because they are placed on "standby" mode when you turn them off. They are not actually "off". However, keep your vcr, dvr or cable in regular outlet, so you won't lose your programming.
6.Use a ceiling fan. Some manufacturers have suggested that a ceiling fan can save up to 40% on summer cooling costs and up to 10% on heating costs in winter. Sometimes all you need is a light breeze to cool the room in the spring and summer and reversing fans in autumn and winter, you are drawing the heat down to the ground, saving energy.
You should find these tips are easy to implement. Just by doing these simple things, you can also organize and begins to go green!
